Britney inspired by Jane Fonda

  • Oct. 6th, 2008 at 11:08 PM

Britney Spears is set to release a series of workout DVDs. The 'Womanizer' singer, who proudly showed off her newly toned figure at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, has been inspired by fitness guru Jane Fonda to don a Lycra leotard and help her fans get in shape.

A source said: "Britney wants to put out a series of workout videos. The idea was inspired by Britney's love of dance and how it helped her get back into shape. It seems Britney found her mom's old Fonda tapes, popped them into an old VCR machine and got a big kick out of watching them."

Although the 26-year-old star is yet to confirm her DVD venture, her record label has fuelled the rumours. A Jive/Zomba representative said: "The idea makes perfect sense, given Britney is a singer who uses dance so much in her act."

Britney is currently preparing to release her new album 'Circus' on December 2 and is hoping it will be a huge success.

A source said: "Britney is telling everyone she doesn't just want to debut at number one, but she wants it to break all kinds of records for a new release."

Former "American Idol" contestant Paris Bennett has given birth to a daughter named Egypt.

Bennett was in labor for five hours before her 5-pound, 15-ounce baby was born Monday.

The first-time mother is reportedly doing well.

In a news release, the 20-year-old says she's "so excited to finally see my little angel." Bennett adds, "Man, does she have lungs on her. I guess she's gearing up to be the next American Idol."

Bennett is scheduled to release her first Christmas CD, "A Royal Christmas," on October 14th.

Besides the horrific name, why is her Christmas CD being released in October?

Now that the fall TV season is in full swing, it's starting to look like the writers' strike caused a lot more damage to television than we originally thought. Many sophomore shows have plummeted in the ratings compared to last year, including Pushing Daisies, Life, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Chuck, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Even Heroes, an already established hit, is down about 32 percent compared to last year, leaving many experts claiming that we're in for some sort of television apocalypse.

As sad as it is to see so many great shows struggling for viewers, it's not doom and gloom everywhere on the tube. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Supernatural has experienced more ratings growth among the 18-49 demographic this season than any other show on television. It's up 42 percent from its season 3 numbers, beating out second place gainer Criminal Minds by an impressive eight percent.

Supernatural season 4 kicked off with an impressive 3.96 million viewers, though the first episode was up against limited competition. The second episode, which had to compete with the premieres of Survivor, The Office and Grey's Anatomy, fell to 3.2 million, while the latest installment, which landed on the night of the vice presidential debates when many shows were delayed, surged to 3.5 million. To put things in perspective, the highest rated episode of season 3, "Bedtime Stories," was seen by 3.24 million people. The ratings average for season 2 was a mere 2.91 million, while this year it currently stands at 3.55 million.

I wish I could point to something to explain why Supernatural is experiencing a ratings surge, but I have no idea why more people are tuning in now versus last year. I personally know of three people who just started watching the show this season, and after seeing the quality of the first few episodes they've become quite addicted. Maybe all the buzz from the fan base is finally starting to pay off, or maybe the new twists and turns in the mythology have pulled some people in.

As much as I hate to rain on the parade of Supernatural fans everywhere, chances are the season 4 average will take a bit of a hit once the show goes up against heavy competition. Thanks to some crafty scheduling, the series has only had to square off with the likes of Grey's Anatomy and The Office once in its first three weeks, but that's going to change beginning this Thursday. 30 Rock will also be premiering against it in the next few weeks, though that's hardly a ratings juggernaut.

Supernatural isn't the only CW show experiencing a ratings uptick in the all-important 18-49 demographic. Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill are also up six percent. The network may not pull in huge numbers, but it looks like more people are finally paying attention to their quality shows.

Laura in Santa Cruz, Calif.: So, so, so happy The Office is back! Do you have any spoilers?
So, so, so many! Not only do I have the answers to the Spoil-o-Rama game, I got a sneak peek at Thursday's awesome ep, "Business Ethics." The Office is back, and it's kicking booty. Check the spoiler section below for all the dish.

Julie in Springfield, Mo.: Any info on the upcoming Project Runway finale?
I suspect that in this Wednesday's episode, the first part of the two-part finale, Tim Gunn challenges the remaining contestants to create a wedding dress because every collection was topped off with a grand, formal, wedding-ish gown. Is that a coincidence or a challenge?

Moritz, Spring Awakening (2007)

Like just about every adolescent who ever lived, Moritz Stiefel (of the seriously unruly hair) is no stranger to angst - particularly (like just about every adolescent who ever lived...) when trying to make sense of his sexually charged feelings and dreams. Leading his all-male classmates, singing of "The Bitch of Living," Moritz (originated by Tony-winning John Gallagher, Jr.) rocks out - and his his impeccably crafted bear-counterpart (armatured and free-standing) is prepared to do the same.

His 3-piece navy-blue wool school uniform consists of jacket, vest and knickers. The buttoned, lined jacket is tailored with two vents at the back, three pockets in front, and 1/4" navy trim on the sleeves and pockets; the lined vest buttons up as well and has faux pockets; and the button-fly knickers buckle and button just below the knees. Beneath the vest: a striped cotton dress-shirt; a navy, green, burgundy and gold striped tie; and striped, button-on suspenders. On his feet, black socks (one up, one down) and black, limited edition Converse high-tops; on his head - well, yes, that seriously unruly hair.

Most importantly, though, are his accessories: the slate, so critical to expressing himself in school, and that mic - so critical to expressing his inner thoughts. Though on stage Moritz met with a tragic end indeed, we feel certain "the wonder of purple summer" is in the stars for his most appealing bear double.

SLH Question!

  • Oct. 6th, 2008 at 8:42 PM
LONGLONGLONG time lurker, first time poster!

So I have a very important SLH question. Sorry if this has already been asked, if it has just disregard this post.

My friend bought me a ticket for the Bill and Trav's Bogus Journey Tour from the SLH pre-sale back in August, and now I would really like to get SLH too!
So here's my question:

Will I still get meet and greet and early entry for this tour with the ticket my friend bought me,  if I  go and buy Santi's Little Helpers now?

If someone could answer this question as soon as possible, that would be amazing. Thank you so much!

High School Musical 'sets record'

Cinemas around the UK have taken record advance bookings for Disney film High School Musical 3.

Three weeks ahead of its release, tickets to the value of more than £500,000 have been booked in advance, according to Walt Disney Pictures.

Odeon, the UK's largest cinema chain, said it had sold £245,205 in advance tickets, beating the record set by Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

The UK premiere for High School Musical 3 takes place on Tuesday.

Stars of the franchise, including Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, are set to attend the London gala. Rupert Gavin, chief executive of the Odeon cinema chain, called it a "phenomenal and record-breaking start" for the movie's UK run.

"Our cinemas have been inundated with calls to pre-book tickets for what could be the year's biggest kids and teen audience movie.

"With schools breaking up for half-term just as High School Musical 3 opens, we are bracing ourselves for a huge first week run," he added.

Odeon's advance ticket sales eclipsed the record set by the fourth Harry Potter film in 2005, which had taken £227,000 at the same stage of booking.

High School Musical 3, which is the first cinematic outing in the series, is due to open across the UK on 22 October.

The original TV movie took the US by storm when it appeared on the Disney channel in January 2006. It went on to become a worldwide hit.

The sequel shattered cable TV records last summer, with a premiere watched by 18.6m in the US.

Work has already begun on High School Musical 4.

Whitney and her TV boyfriend in NYC today

  • Oct. 6th, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
While her off-screen relationship with E!’s Ben Lyons continues to blossom, Whitney Port was seen in New York City today walking with her far more attractive T.V. boyfriend Jay Lyon.

The make-believe lovebirds strolled along the Bowery in the uber trendy Soho district amid a practical wall of paparazzzi.

For 10 blocks, Whit and Jay ignored each other completely as they either texted or spoke on the phone to other people.

Feel the love!!

Vote for TAI...

  • Oct. 7th, 2008 at 8:53 AM
Hey everyone,
Just found out that TAI have made it onto a SEA MTV chart. It's a rock chart and currently they are placed at number 4. It is quite surprising as they are hardly known here and many people would scratch their head when i mention "The Academy Is..." I guess music does speak for itself so let's make the boys number one by voting here:
